WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, August 16th and 17th WHERE: HARVEST MIDDLE SCHOOL (2449 Old Sonoma Road, Napa 94558) CHECK IN: Teams need to check in with the Field Marshall 30 mins before their first game. Team Formation: Team coach will divide their current team into two [2] “mini” teams of 5 –7 players each.
Game format : Each “mini” team will play two games on Saturday and Sunday. No scores or standings will be kept. Teams will be grouped into three flights based on the coach’s preference of competition.
Flight A: Teams that are looking for the best competition
Flight B: Teams that are looking for their first win, new or are mostly U-9 players.
Flight C: Will play teams from both flights, average team play and / or don’t care which flight, “they just want to play”.
Game time: Each mini-team will play four 10-minute quarters within the hour at the same time on fields that are adjacent to each other. This allows the coach to switch or sub players back & forth between the two games at any time.
Players: All players must wear shin guards and appropriate footwear
Rules: (5 v 5)
- Field size - 25 yds. X 40 yds. Modified goals approximately 7 X 14’.

Soccer play is continuous.

Each game will have one official

Free substitution any time during the game [no stoppage of play, similar to that of hockey]

Substitution will take place at the half line.

No off – sides and no slide tackles.

Goalkeepers: May not punt the ball, but redistribute the ball by rolling, throwing or passing the ball to teammates. The goalkeeper may also dribble the ball out of the box. Goalkeepers are encouraged to participate as attackers or defenders in the game.

All restarts are by indirect free kicks from the goal line, point of the foul [minimum 10 yards from the goal], centerline after a goal is scored, throw-ins from the touch line or drop balls. There are no corner kicks, (throw -in instead).

Games may be modified to fit the needs of the players and / or field conditions.
