The goal of NVSC is for all teams to be led by a volunteer parent head coach, a team manager, and at least one assistant coach. In some cases, the volunteer parent head coach and assistant are qualified to provide instruction appropriate to the Club level of play. In other cases where coaching expertise is not available in the parent ranks, a team may be assigned a trainer, who is responsible for instruction in technique and tactics and works with the volunteer parent coaches.
Individual teams are permitted to employ a team trainer of their own choosing. Teams hiring their own trainer are not provided a trainer by NVSC.
All NVSC head coaches and trainers are required to hold the CYSA "E" license or equivalent as a minimum level of training. NVSC may waive this requirement on a case-by-case basis. Coaching courses are posted in the coaching section of the site at www.cysanorth.org. This site shows dates and locations for CYSA Coaching courses hosted by Napa Youth Soccer League and by other leagues outside the Napa area.
